mountains behind.
The many varied tracks and trails around Mijas can be perfectly adapted to the abilities and aspirations of individual tours and riders with everything from thrilling forest trails, rivers (not too deep we promise),rocks, lots of steep hills to conquer (if you want), single technical trails and gentle sweeping sandy trails for those who simply want to take in the breathtaking vistas.
On all our tours we will stop for lunch in a white village or venta (traditional roadside inn). We’ve also found two fantastic tracks (completely off road so no license required and minimum age of 16) within 5 minutes of our base, a safe environment for first timers but with exhilarating challenges for experienced riders. The village of Mijas itself despite its popularity with the tourists, has managed to retain its Spanish character. It is popular all year round, with a good variety of cafés, restaurants, bars and gift shops, shady plazas and numerous vantage points called ‘miradors’ which have spectacular views to the Mediterranean, Africa’s coast, golf courses, Marbella, along the coast line to Gibraltar and the surrounding countryside. There is a local donkey taxi service and horses and carriages in the summer months.
Other attractions include the village bullring still providing regular bullfights and horse displays. For those seeking a more lively nightlife, beaches and shopping, the bright lights of Fuengirola are a 10 minute drive and Marbella is 20 minutes away.
