Spain Holiday Guide
We all love our annual holiday, we look forward to it through the winter months and want to make the best of our time away. But sometimes the big dilemma is where to book your holiday and what is there to do in the resort while you are there. All the popular tourist destination offer bars, restaurants, entertainment for families and whole heap of activities and the Costa del Sol is no exception to this. But from these generic activities and entertainments that you could get in any sunny resort how do you find something that gives you an insight into the local area, the culture and the history of the country?
The Cost del Sol area is a rich wine region and there are many opportunities to explore the hidden vineyards and sample the produce. From Descalzos Viejos winery in Ronda which was founded along with the restoration of the chapel of the S Trinity XVI convent to the relatively new vineyard of Bodega Joaquin Fernandez which has been producing wine since 2002.
Teatro Romano de Malaga is an impressive Roman Theatre built in the age of Augustus and nestles in the foot of the hill on which the Alcazba stands. Castillo Sohail in Fuengirola has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries and its turbulent history as well as is unique silhouette has meant it has become an iconic symbol of the city. For a flavour of Spain and its culture El Ranchito in Torremolinos regularly performs equestrian shows with evening meal and a traditional flameco show. To the north of Malaga is the extensive nature reserve of Laguna de la Fuente de Piedra, a large lagoon covering 1354 hectares and home to a variety of flora and fauna indicative to the region.
Of course the Costa del Sol is an extremely popular resort and in the busiest resorts there are several hotels and bars as well as aqua parks and theme parks for all the family. If, however you are looking for a holiday with a slightly slower pace and away from the crowds of a high season holiday resort that does not mean that Costa del Sol should be discounted. Scenery opens up to where http://www.secrethotelsrevealed.co.uk hotels revealed in the valleys and hillsides and hidden sights and places of interest that are often missed from the main commercial resorts along the Costa del Sol coast.
