Jaen Province - The province of Jaen is the largest producer of olive oil and olives in the world and it seems that the whole landscape is dominated by these trees. The largest trade fair in the world devoted entirely to olives is held here every year in the first week of October. It also boasts the Sierra de Cazorla natural park which is Spain biggest and one of the most beautiful in Andalucia. As with every other province in Andalucia there are some wonderful white-washed villages throughout. Jaen City has a rich history and many fine examples of architecture. There are numerous churches and a wonderful cathedral. The main castle of the city which was built in Moorish times has now been converted into a Parador hotel and sits on top Mount Catalina . The main museum in Jaen is considered to be one of the finest in Spain for Iberian art from the pre-roman period. The main fiesta for Jaen is for San Antonio Abad and this is named after the protector and patron saint of animals.
