Golf
Ronda will have a golf course soon, but for the time-being there are alternatives at Antequera (c.45 mins), Arcos (c.30 mins), and, of course, the Costa del Sol has dozens around Marbella, Estepona, Mijas, Alhaurin, etc.

Skiing
The Sierra Nevada, and the resort 'Solynieve', is well worth visiting, as is the wonderful city of Granada at the foot of the mountains.

Special interest holidays
When you start planning your holidays, do not forget, that the autumn and winter in Andalucia are wonderful, and the temperature can reach 20 degrees and more. The best time to travel around and learn to know how beautiful Andalucia is.

Travel
The airports of Malaga, Seville and Jerez are all approx 1½ hour drive and all are served by international airlines. The port of Algeciras is also about 1½ hour with the Northern Spanish ports of Santander and Bilbao approx 10 hours driving time from the house.

Distances
Ronda is reached by car within 15 minutes, Setenil within 10. Jerez, and its airport, takes just over an hour, with Cadiz a little further. Seville and Málaga are similar distances. A cross-country and stress-free drive to Córdoba will take you 2 hours, and Granada around 2-and-a-half. The communications and main roads are great, and even though the distances may seem huge, the traffic is light so accessing any of these cities is a pleasurable day-trip.

Further details
This whole area, the Serrania of Ronda, is renowned for its outdoor activities: walking, rock climbing, cycling, paragliding, horse riding, fishing, canoeing, ballooning and wildlife watching. It's all waiting to be explored! Locally, as well as the dramatic scenery, you'll find pretty and quaint white-washed villages - such as Setenil, Zahara de la Sierra (with its stunning lake), Grazalema, Olvera, Montecorto and El Gastor. They all boast great eateries as well as small shops, petrol stations, banks etc they're lovely places which provide a reminder of Andalucia's history and traditional architecture. Ronda is far grander, with double-fronted mansions, formal landscaped parks, impressive and imposing churches and palaces, the oldest bullring in Spain (and definitely the most beautiful), the incredible Puente Nuevo bridge which spans a 100m drop into a deep gorge below, and spectacular views across the mountain-scape beyond. It has all modern conveniences, yet its prosperous past is never far away.

Ronda la Vieja's best and most striking remain is the 1st century AD theatre, which stands at the summit of the hill visible from the rest of the city only as a high wall until you reach the building itself. It is remarkably well preserved, which is surprising considering the state of the rest of the site. It is possible to make out some buildings, but most of the city exists as rubble. Heaps of stone denote where buildings lie. With some work, Acinipo could be an amazing visitor site but, due largely to its extraordinarily out-of-the-way location, it is highly unlikely the government will ever pour enough money into it for that.
