Cortijo La Serena -
Richly planted gardens, extensive grounds, a gorgeous infinity pool, amazing views and an immaculately furnished interior.
The owners have just completed major renovation work. They have kept the rustic character of this more than 100-year-old Hispano Moorish farm that can comfortably house from 2 to 6 people.
The inside decoration reflects the owners love for authenticity and interest in world travels. They have beautifully restored the beams in all rooms, uncovered stonewalls and generally decorated with rustic and antique furniture and original paintings.
The congenial owners will provide you with tourist information take your bookings and will generally be on hand to ensure that your stay is the most enjoyable possible.

Booking Notes
Special rates can be discussed for long-term stays except for peak season.
Insurance
You are responsible for ensuring that you have adequate insurance cover during your stay in Spain and at Cortijo La Serena.
Deposit Payment
A 25% deposit is required in advance on initial booking and is non-refundable. A refundable security deposit of € 100 is required against damages.
Final balance and security deposit is due no later than 6 weeks prior to arrival. Final balance is also non-refundable except in extreme circumstances.
Change over day
Bookings normally begin Saturday’s 5.00pm to Saturday departure 10.00 am.
ACCOMMODATION
BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 - The ground floor bedroom (double) is decorated in an understated oriental style and has an adjacent shower room with WC. Bedroom 2 - The first floor offers a romantic double bedroom with 4-poster bed and a balcony with an amazing view over the grounds and mountains.
A well-appointed bathroom with shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin is equally to be found on the first floor. Bedroom 3 - The large twin bedroom is decorated in a Mexican style with wrought iron beds and an antique walnut wardrobe. It offers equally lovely views over the gardens and surrounding hills
Sitting room
The sitting room, which is beautifully presented, has comfortable rustic settees and chairs grouped around a fully functioning stone fireplace. It also has a small library, in addition to board games, radio CD player, small selection of CDs, videos and a TV.
Kitchen
The farmhouse kitchen-dining room is well appointed with a gas cooker with hob, electric oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge freezer, espresso machine, cafetiere, toaster and electric kettle. It also features a pine dresser, old pine table, chairs and bench.
An authentic huge bread oven has been restored and is the focal point in the dining area together with farmhouse implements and lovely Moroccan bowls hanging from the walls.
A welcome pack comprising milk, instant coffee, tea, sugar, bread as well as complementary bottle of red wine will be awaiting you in the kitchen upon arrival.
Bread can be delivered 3 times per week to the property.

The holiday cottage offers a large outside terrace, BQ area, covered al fresco eating area with antique table, benches and chairs, infinity swimming pool [11m by 6m] surrounded by 3 large sun decks, sun loungers provided, large grounds and private parking. Heating is provided during winter months.

The owners have a small number of well-behaved animals that are kept in a separate area within the owner’s property.
The owner's house is adjacent and at the back of the holiday retreat.
English, French, Dutch, German and Spanish spoken.
Special interest
Outdoor activities, which are available and which can be booked are cycling (2 bikes available), quad biking, mountain hikes and horse riding. The Sierra Nevada Mountains within easy reach offer skiing for the expert and novice alike. Fishing is available at the nearby Lake Iznajar and sea-fishing trips from the coast can also be arranged.
The desert tent (below) in the private grounds is ideal for meditation, yoga and listening to music as well as for private events such as birthday dinners and wedding anniversaries. We do NOT book out the tent to any other party whilst our rental guests occupy the house, in order to avoid any disturbance during their holiday with us
Holistic treatments such as Indian head massage, pedicure, aromatherapy and lymphatic drainage can also be organised.
The Gardens and Moorish patio can be booked for wedding receptions and renewal of your vows. Ask for separate information.
The desert tent in the private gardens can be booked for other special functions and private events such as birthday dinners and wedding anniversaries.
Location
This holiday country villa is ideally situated at only 35 minutes north from Malaga airport, 40 minutes from Grenada airport, between the historical cities of Antequera and Archidona.
The idyllic location of this beautiful retreat invites relaxation, rambling and visits to historical sites as it is located only 45 minutes away from Granada, one hour and 30 minutes drive from Cordoba, Sevilla and Ronda. It is also within easy reach of El Torcal and the lakes of El Chorro and only 45 minutes away from the Costa del Sol beaches.
Nearby villages with all local amenities are reached by car in circa 10 minutes. Major Supermarkets and a large shopping mall are also to be found in Archidona and Antequera (15 and 30 minutes away)

Villanueva del Rosario is a small town off the motorway from Málaga to Granada and Seville.
The white washed pueblo sits at the base of the Cerro de la Cruz, with rolling countryside on the other three sides. Famous for the quality of its olive oil, the countryside is naturally clothed with olive trees and wheat fields in between.
The population is approximately 3,500. The feria is celebrated during the first week in August, and is known as "La Veladilla del Carmen". There is another feria in October to celebrate the patron called the "La Virgen del Rosario". Festivities however start earlier in the year on April 25th when the population, in common with other agricultural communities celebrate "La Romeria de San Marcos" who is the patron saint of the countryside. The pueblo acts as a base for potholers whot can explore the caverns in the Sierra, or for cycling horse riding or walking holidays. Several properties are available for 'rural tourism'. Visits
The Copper Era sites and the Visigoth necropolis (burial grounds) are found in the hills, but most of them have been robbed or partially destroyed. The shrine built in honour of the villages patron saint "La Virgen del Rosario" is situated above the village on the way to "El Nacimiento", a spring at the base of the mountain which supplies the village with drinking water. Continuing upwards the Hondoneros is reached high on the Sierra los Camarolos and Sierra Gorda, where many different species of flora and fauna can be found
