EL TEJAR VIEJO - is a recently built country house (finished in 2008) surrounded by olive trees. Fully furnished, combining comfort and the typical Andalusian architecture. Perfect for families or groups of friends (10 people max.) thanks to its 5 spacious bedrooms. It is fenced within an olive grove to provide the guests with the due privacy. You can sunbathe in the large terrace surrounding the pool while gazing at the local scenery. Its charms will make you be willing to come back from the very moment you leave the house. You will enjoy there the quietness of the countryside, impressive scenery, olive groves and a beautiful sight of the Arabic castle in Carcabuey.

Booking Notes
To confirm the reservation, you must make a deposit of 20% of the total in advance and the rest of the total will be paid on your arrival.
The price includes: heating, electricity, water and firewood. The swimming pool is available from May to September.
Change over day
For a week or longer stays, the day of arrival is Saturday afternoon from 5pm onwards and the departure is also on Saturday, but before 10am to enable the owners to clean and arrange the house for the next guests.
Linen & Towels
The price includes sheets and towels (not the ones for the swimming pool). For 2 or more weeks stays towels and sheets are changed weekly.
ACCOMMODATION
Bedrooms:
Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 2 With twin beds. Bedroom 3 with twin beds. Bedroom 4 double bed with en-suite. Bedroom 5 with twin beds.
Bathroom
Bathroom 1 with shower over, WC etc. Bathroom 2 with shower over, WC, bidet etc. En-suite bathroom to bedroom 4.
Separate WC to pool.
We have suitable bathrooms for the physically handicapped people.
Living rooms
The walls in the dining/sitting-room are made of stone and old brick with an austere but beautiful decoration. It has a dinner-table for 10 people, coach, fire place and TV.
Kitchen
The kitchen furniture is built-in and the kitchen and dining room are separated by a bar made from a pine tree trunk. The house is fully furnished and it has a larder too.
Other
Every room has a stone wall (at the head of the bed) and the coat stands and lamps are very original. There is one on the ground floor and the rest are on the first floor.
Notes on Accommodation
The owners of El Tejar Viejo are aware of the serious problems pollution is causing all over the world. That is why we have committed ourselves to renewable energy in several ways. Hot water, for instance is obtained by means of solar cells placed on the roof and the heating works on a neutral source of energy as it is firewood from olive trees. We also want to make the house a safe place for children and that is why we have fenced in the swimming pool site.

Accessibility
From the moment a guest on a wheelchair gets out of the car, there are no obstacles either in their way to the front door or around the ground floor. On this floor there is a bedroom and a bathroom suitable for physically handicapped people. There is a ramp to get to the swimming pool terrace and inside the pool there is a 1m.-deep area.
Outside
Outside you will enjoy a barbecue and a farmhouse oven to cook your own roasts or bake your own bread. At the front door there is a large furnished porch. On the way down to the pool, there is a garden decorated with the remains of large mud earthenware jars. The 7x14m swimming pool is equipped with a cloakroom and a large terrace with lawn, shower, deck chairs, sunshades etc. Private to be used by the guests only.

Distances
The house is right in the middle of Andalusia and that will enable you to visit different capital cities in a day. Cordoba and The Mosque, Granada and The Alhambra and Jaén are an hour drive away from the house. Málaga is 125km away and Seville is 250km away. Priego, the capital city of the Cordovan Baroque is 5km from the house. Iznájar and Zuheros are 30km away. The house is located in the centre of the Sierras Subbéticas (Subbetica Mountain Ranges) Nature Reserve.
El Tejar Viejo is 3km from Carcabuey, which is a small town in whose shops you can fin almost everything. There is also a chemist’s, banks and a petrol station. In the village bars you can grab a bite and taste the typical tapas of the area or go for a meal in a restaurant. In Carcabuey there are several festivals of tourist interest all the year through, such as: The Feria (village festival), which is held towards the middle of August. September 8th is the Patron Saint’s Day (La Virgen del Castillo/ The Castle’s Virgin). In November a traditional pig slaughter is carried out in the town centre and typical pork products are prepared for the visitors to taste them. In spring, there is a wonderful Holy Week with processions, saints, etc. (around April). In June there is another holiday to commemorate Corpus Christi. On that day, almost everybody in the village collaborates to make a stunning bright-coloured carpet with different patterns on several streets. Besides, the neighbours take their plants and flowers out on the street to highlight the celebration. In case you want to buy in big supermarkets, you can find some of them in Priego (5km away) and there is a hypermarket (Carrefour) in Lucena (30km away).
There is a hospital in Cabra (30 Km. away).You can visit a large olive oil factory near the house. It is a farming cooperative (3km from the house), which is open to visitors from November to April/May (harvest time). In harvest time you can see the process of elaboration of one of the best olive oils in the world, as shown by the numerous world-wide prizes with which the olive oils from this co-operative have been awarded. The premises can be visited all the year through and you can buy probably the best olive oil in the world right in the factory where it is produced.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are in Costa del Sol in Málaga (approx 120km away). Driving your own car you can get there in an hour and a half. You can also visit the lake in Iznájar, which is 30km away).
Golf
There is a golf course in Antequera, about 80km from the house.
Skiing
Sierra Nevada, where you can enjoy skiing on its wonderful ski slopes is in Granada (about 80km away).

Cordoba is more than just churches, palaces, monuments and museums. It is a very special place and a day or two spent wandering its tiny streets, relaxing in its beautiful little squares, drinking in its traditional old bars and dining in its fine restaurants is time well spent.
You can wander around the tiny streets of the Judería (Jewish Quarter) with their flower filled patios. Here you'll come across one of the last three remaining Synagogues in Spain, the others being in Toledo. You must visit the beautiful gardens of the Catholic Kings (Alcazár) where Columbus first sought finance for his voyage of discovery from Fernando and Isabella. And a stroll across the Roman bridge past the Moorish waterwheels to the other side of the Guadalquivir river is a great spot for a panoramic view of the historical heart of the city which is particularly beautiful at sunset.
